I will be the first to admit that I hate cygwin, it works just enough that its nice, but breaks more often than not so its so frustrating.

But as I was reading up on setting up the mail server properly, I found a quick tip for cygwin. Just install the X Server so you can X-Forward to a regular box.
So now I have the option of running applications on my server (well firewall / dev box, server is elsewhere) and having the GUI show up here. No sound, but thats dealable with one other day anyways.

And yes, on that screenshot is Evolution AND Ms Outlook 2003 (been playing with thunderbird forever, but it keeps breaking, timing out connections on me, I have to tweak with settings)

So yes, I totally recomend the x-server section of Cygwin, don’t need anything else.

I’m still trying to work out a new MT plugin to do podcasts cleanly for HiSciFi (and smile like a donut).
The current MTEnclosures works, but its sorta too general purpose to work cleanly, Jevon wants me to add itunes rss tags to the feed, and I can’t do that with the current plugin.

Just trying to figure out how I want to do things. This CMSEnhancer plugin looks pretty cool, I could make this into a REALLY cool plugin if I did it that way, or a less interactive one and depends more on parsing the post otherwise.

We’ll see won’t we.

I still have to get thier new template finished and installed. Wonder which is more important. Probably the template as enclosures do work, just not well enough yet.

Yes, i’m back, back on Movable Type.
Back to using MTLJPost (well playing with it and upgrading to use the new MT3 stuff as much as possible.

Been anxiously awaiting sci-fi friday all weeek.
Unfortuatly being I’m in canada and have basic if that cable, i have to wait a bit longer :(.
I mean, its not hard to tell that i’m a stargate fan, and now, there is 2 stargates and a Battlestar Galactica (which interesting enough, i went to highschool with one of the actresses) on fridays. Once I get my mythtv thing setup again properly (had cabling issues), I probably will consider ordering a dish or something so i can get this stuff properly (my tv card handles changing channels on recievers).

I’m going to try and keep this site updated again, although for whatever reasons i’ve stopped in the past, will probaly happen again.

Although I’ve gotten almost everything needed for http://hosting.kodekoan.com done, just a small tweak of the ftp, and all the frontend managemnet system (like changing passwords, adding email address, etc)

After a couple of emails about MTLJPost and working with MT for HiSciFi, I think I might go back to using MT.

That way I can work on MTLJPost again neatly.

If it wasn’t so late, I’d also, I’d also talk about my experiences with Postfix+mysql+sasl+imap and the 3 week fun it took to get it all working nice and cleanly. But its late, I’m tired, so I’ll just say Wh00t, linux does rock, ’cause i was able to hack an open source pam module to get things working the way i wanted.

I proved to myself I could write a CMS, and I did, now i’m thinking i’ll go back to the hardened MT.
