Playing with ecto and blogjet today.

I have to say, I’m find blogjet so much better. I’m still not sure I want to *pay* for a client.

PS, C&C3 is much better than expected. The FMV are so nice, I kinda hope it becomes a trend again.

PPS, Livejournal has an April Fools Post this year, albeit very early :)

Finally got my script that downloads hiscifi (and jevon’s future show if he ever gets a new one) fixed up and running again.

Apparently CJSF updated thier archive pages (kplaylist) so my script had to be totally hacked again. I hate scraping sites, its so.. finicy.. I tried this time to make the script a little more lient, but its getting harder and harder each time to fix things.

I just wish we could get a ftp access or something so i don’t waste thier time parsing the pages and such.

That or there was a (cheap) way for me to just record directy from the radio signal so I don’t have to worry about them breaking thier archives again (or shoutcast).

Okay, Yesterday I finally got php and apache to play nice again and upgraded both installations.

Last time I attempted this I found there was alot of problems. Pages not working, perl + php not playing nice, etc.

I’ve tried out a bunch of the problematic pages this time, and everything seems to be working fine now.

Someone let me know if anything goes wrong.

In a recent interview with USA Today, Robin Williams informed them that he collects a lot of anime and is looking forward to seing Steamboy. He comments, “The Japanese are very aware that animation isn’t just for kids to the point of making pornography. They make deeply dark movies, science-fiction movies.” – Source Anime News Network

Wow, I see alot of really weird articles froming from the ANN, but this one really stands out.

I’m a big fan of robin williams, even his more serious work like Patch Adams, but after reading this, I have to say, my respect has reached a new high for him. I’ve been saying for a while now how the japanese animations can be both dark and light and fluffy, while the stuff that is created here, its always very .. kiddy. Now I am not saying I do not enjoy the american animations, such as Shrek, The Incredibles, Lilo And Stich, or even the saturday morning cartoons (Batman, x-men, justice league, etc).. but there are alot of good deep/dark animations from japan that just don’t match anything here.

Macross Plus has to be one of the few animes that I like better dubbed than subbed. Sonic X would be another, but it was pretty crappy to start with.

Maybe its just because I used to watch Macross Plus back on teletoon so many years ago when it was dubbed only, but i find now listening to the japanese audio track very hard, the characters don’t seem to have the same emotion, and I always prefer watching things without subs.

The only real issue I have with the dub, is the songs, they really should have left them the originals, as really, the timing of the words do not match up at all. A song and its notes tend to end on the end of the line right? Well at least it sorta does. With this, the words might be the same, but they would end on weird points in the line, or rush to fit it in with the music.

Yes, and thats my awesome first post in a while, reviewing an anime and barely an review at all.

Holy Shit Fullmetal Alchemist has become interesting again.

I’m just loving the characters and plot twists and such.

Specially now that they finally got the villians introduced.

It wasn’t a slow start, but its finally gotten to a point where they need to be introduced..
WHOA

and to quote McDonalds and the JordanI’m loving it

I have to say, initially I was impressed, Its not really my kind of anime, but it was still good. By the time i got to the second DVD, it was extreamly beh.

The lesbian (yuri) stuff was way overdone. Alot of subtle imagry and stuff, very deep, but DULL.

Devilman lady is about the .. idea of humans being unable to evolve except if they contain the latent ‘beast’ gene. Which turns them into some sort of super human monster.

Okay, i suck at writing reviews, it just is BLEH. The story lines are overdone. Monster comes in, monster gets defeated, story happeneds, repeat. New girl character comes in, gets hots for jun, the female lead, turns into a beast, gets killed, repeat…

It is the first anime i’ve regretted seeing, and especially spending $10 to rent… BAH

(Yes Yes, transcribed directly from my lj, so its not really that good, but its been 2 days now, and i havn’t felt like writing something better yet)

I guess now, i finally feel like the con is over. Even though i’m still wearing my AE2003 t-shirt, and my pass is still sitting on my desk, staring back at me, telling me i should go back for another day.

I really don’t know what to say, it was my first con experience, and i have to say, i absolutly loved it.
Probably moreso hanging out with the ubc people more than being at the con, but I still thoughally enjoyed the con…

After going to the Stargate SG-1 Panel, i so wished i went to more, but i had no idea what i wanted to see, still don’t.. He was an awsomly fun speaker.. and i asked about the cartoon, and found out that most of them had absolutly nothing todo with it.. which was awsome, i hate the new cartoon. And that there will be a spinoff series.. hopefully it will be good. I just wish I actually got channels that aired any of the shows (other than the cartoon :P)

I loved the auction at the end, I’m sure i was blushing alot when i was doing the bidding on robotech, i could feel my face get really hot, moreso than just the temperature in the room… eeep :)

But the auction was fun, loved all the VA’s.. well most of them, they made it fun… I was hoping for alot more for the closing ceramony though.. Guess it wasn’t really planned out.. Actually i was wishing for at least something.

Anyways, gonna post some stuff on halkeye.net as well as post links to the 50-75 pictures (As i got tired of trying to make the picture pages look like they fit with the rest of the website) I took during the weekend.. But as a sneak preview, some of my favorite
