Demos

So far this weekend I got to try two really cool demos, and one really pathetic demo.

TMNT: The Movie game really sucks, you can easily tell its the same engine as hulk, and spiderman and such. Doesn’t even feel like ninja turtles except you can do some combo moves(?). I think at least, I had trouble getting anything other than the super jump to work.

Quake 4 has zombies!

that is all.

(note, thanks to the #mysql guys, i have figured out a bunch of issues the server was having with mysql.. its all good now.. stupid bugs)

Nostalgic

Sin Episode 1 was so awesome. I'm pretty sure i'm one of the very few people who's played the original.

I'm surprised that the game works so well in episode format.. Its weird, being only a couple hours long per episode, but its highly action packed, etc..

got so many pictures up in the New Gallery.

Oblivion Video

Whoaaa

The latest elders scroll (.. not quite sequel to morrowind) - Oblivion Video

Its a must see for any RPG fan.

even if you are not, its pretty enjoyable, the comments the narrator says are just fun.

FEAR Closed MP Beta

http://pics.halkeye.net/gallery/000dwd3x is my pictures from the F.E.A.R beta demo thingie. I don't even thing it warrents a review, so i'm leaving it at that.

Knights of the Temple: Infernal Crusade

Okay, I've been sitting staring at this window for a bit now, Unable to quite get my thoughts on this game typed out properly. That is, Until I actually started to look through the screenshots, I was just going to cite this example InGame screen. Its a pretty decent example of all the ingame activity so I didn't even try to bother to find one closer back to the point in the game I was.

Now, taking a look at the rest of the screenshots, you'll have to notice that they all are pretty much the same, there is no, other parts, just chopping up people. Puzzles are barely there. If you had Knights of the Old Republic with the same interface, it would still be totally different as you'd have some semblance of a storyline there, instead of the sorta, wierd one that was added to make the game have a point (KotT not KOTOR).

Anyways, Not a fan of this game even in the slightest, I thought I was going to have another rpg to play, but sadly not so.

Not sure what else to say about it, but don't buy it unless you got so much cash to spare.

Lego Starwars

Tried LEGO Starwars this morning. Man, it was very cute, everything is done in LEGO, and you can destroy most things with your lightsaber / blaster.

Okay, overall it was kinda enjoyable once I got into it, but the default controls were atrocious at best, there were at least 4 main keys, one for firing/attacking, one for jumping, one for "special" and one for talking. And they aren't the normal layout one expects for games, they are layed out so one player is on the keypad, one is on the keyboard. Which is really annoying when you are used to having it spread out.

Though I have to admit, it brings back a bit of memories from the old arcade style double dragon games, where you could grab a friend and play 2 players. It even has puzzles that you would need to cooperate on.

The first time through the game, I was really, unimpressed, but for some reason, I went back and tried it again, I think because at one point they suggest you go around collecting all these "extras" to gain some secret demo code or something. And I have to admit, trying it again, it was alot more interesting than I though.

The only truely downside was that they tried to be funny a few times, when something blew up and a person was in the object (such as a ship), they'd do the old looney toons cliff drop style .. thing. Where they suddenly realize there is nothing underneithe them, and suddenly fall down into peices of lego... I found that really didn't belong in a starwars game.

Overall, I'd say it was a fun demo, but I wouldn't buy the full game, its just not that interesting.

Got Kingdom Hearts

15:47 < halkeye> hahah
15:48 < halkeye> it only took me like 10 tries, but i finally beat riku in the race

I so miss this game, I can't belive I restarted it so many times just to beat riku. I mean, I know that cutscene by heart now.

Sora: If I win..ummmmmm. I'm captain.... And if you win
Riku: I get to share a paupo with Kairi. Agreed?
Sora: Wha? um...

Actually not quite by heart, but i think thats it.
And I finally beat him!!! score now of 2-1, from the previous battles!!!

An interesting idea...

[18:01] halkeye> you think a web based icq or aim program like squirrelmail is would be useful at all?
[18:01] halkeye> like the non-java kind?

I'd really like to mess with perl some more anyways, havn't done a real project in it in a while.
And I hate java apps so much.

UT2004

OnSlaught Rules!!! I just love that mode.
But unfortunately I've found more and more now that the dumbasses are getting their hands on the demo. I was lucky to find the nvidia download site, which meant i had it in an hour or so, while the UT site I've heard was MUCH worse.

So we get a lot of the jerks now, and the trash talkers, and the racists and all the other losers.

But I think what bugs me the most, are the people who are trying to tell everyone else what to do, but they don't have a clue themselves. They are taking the least strategic points and/or getting angry if someone takes the vehicle that they wanted.

Its sorta ruining a game I've really enjoyed up until now. I am actually finding myself half wanting to start a clan again, Like I had with quake one, and like we tried to do with quake 2 ctf.

I'm so enjoying OnSlaught Mode though, But I'm starting to need more games.
